Our Respiratory Care Services team provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to support patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. Using evidence-based practices and advanced diagnostic technology, our licensed respiratory therapists work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality respiratory care.
Respiratory Testing & Services
Inpatient Acute Care and Outpatient Diagnostic Laboratory Services
At CTH Regional Medical Center 1600 Medical Pkwy location
Respiratory therapists are available to provide specialized care for hospitalized patients experiencing respiratory or cardiac emergencies, acute illness, or exacerbations of chronic lung disease. Services include, but are not limited to:
- Airway assessment and management during emergency cardiac and respiratory events.
- Oxygen therapy and advanced oxygen delivery systems to improve oxygenation.
- Administration of inhaled medications, including bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and other aerosolized therapies.
- Therapeutic airway clearance techniques to mobilize and remove pulmonary secretions.
- Respiratory therapies to improve ventilation and support breathing.
- Patient education on respiratory treatments, inhaler techniques, and disease management.
- Mechanical ventilation management and respiratory monitoring in collaboration with the critical care team.
- Collection and analysis of arterial and venous blood gases to assess oxygenation, ventilation, acid-base status, and overall lung function, while providing valuable information about kidney function and metabolic balance.
Outpatient Diagnostic Services

Our outpatient Pulmonary Function lab provides comprehensive diagnostic testing to help evaluate lung function, identify respiratory disorders, and assist healthcare providers in developing personalized treatment plans. Services include, but are not limited to:
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT): Comprehensive testing that measures lung volumes, airflow, and the lungs' ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream, aiding in the diagnosis and management of conditions such as asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, and other respiratory diseases.
- Patient education on respiratory treatments, inhaler techniques, and disease management.
