Biannually, Carson Tahoe Health recognizes two of our outstanding nurses through The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized honor bestowed by The DAISY Foundation. Awards are given to compassionate nurses who provide excellent care – care similar to what Patrick Barnes received battling Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). After having battled the disease for eight weeks and experiencing exceptional nursing care, Barnes passed away. His family was inspired to create a not-for-profit organization called The DAISY Foundation (DAISY standing for diseases attacking the immune system). The DAISY Award exists to honor Barne’s memory and thank the nurses who give their time, talents and empathy to patients and families every day.
The DAISY Award is one way to honor and thank Carson Tahoe’s incredible nurses and the amazing service they provide for patients and families within our community. Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in her/his unit and will receive: a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer’s Touch.
If you’ve received excellent care and/or witnessed a nurse at Carson Tahoe Health going above and beyond, please share YOUR story with a DAISY Nomination using the below link to the nomination form.
Tell us about the nurse you are nominating as a deserving recipient of The DAISY Award. This nurse’s clinical skill and especially her/his compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. She/he consistently meets all of the following criteria: Must be an RN (registered nurse) or LPN (licensed practical nurse) involved in direct patient care. Awards will be given twice a year.
Thank you for helping us recognize our amazing Carson Tahoe Health nurses.
