Daisy and Sunflower Award

The Daisy and Sunflower Awards

DAISY Award Nomination

The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized honor bestowed by The DAISY Foundation. Awards are given to compassionate nurses who provide excellent care – care similar to what Patrick Barnes received battling Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). After having battled the disease for eight weeks and experiencing exceptional nursing care, Barnes passed away. His family was inspired to create a not-for-profit organization called The DAISY Foundation (DAISY standing for diseases attacking the immune system). The DAISY Award exists to honor Barnes’s memory and thank the nurses who give their time, talents and empathy to patients and families every day.

Tell us about the nurse you are nominating as a deserving recipient of The DAISY Award. This nurse’s clinical skill and especially their compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. They must be an RN (registered nurse) or LPN (licensed practical nurse) involved in direct patient care.
