Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Patient Visiting Hours

  • RMC and Sierra main doors open at 5:30 AM - 8:00 PM daily, during which time all visitors are monitored upon entrance.
  • Access to inpatient units is available during regular visiting hours between 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM daily.
  • Access to inpatient units before or after regular visiting hours will be accommodated, whenever possible, based on patient needs and clinical status.
  • Guests enter through the emergency department after hours.
  • Emergency department patients may have one visitor to accompany them.
  • Outpatient surgery, same-day surgery, and ARC patients may have one visitor over the age of 18 to accompany them to the pre-operative or pre-procedural area (RMC and Sierra):
    • Exceptions: Pediatric patients may have two parents accompanying them. The nurse/provider can override visitor restrictions on a case-by-case basis.
    • Surgery visitors may wait inside the building.

Carson Tahoe Sierra Surgery
Seven Days a Week:

  • RMC and Sierra main doors open at 5:30 AM - 8:00 PM daily, during which time all visitors are monitored upon entrance.
  • Access to inpatient units is available during regular visiting hours between 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM daily.

Carson Tahoe Obstetrics Department (OB) Visiting Policy and Hours
All attempts will be made to allow family members to comfort patients while ensuring safety, security, and infection control.

  • A support person is permitted in the unit at all times with a patient unless other accommodations are deemed appropriate by the patient and/or Charge Nurse.
  • Extended family members are permitted to visit during normal visiting hours of 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM daily.
  • Siblings are permitted to visit outside normal visiting hours but must be properly supervised by an adult other than the patient at all times during their visit. No overnight sibling visits are permitted.
  • No more than two additional visitors per patient will be allowed at any one time, except at the discretion of the RN on a case-by-case basis.
  • The staff has the responsibility and authority to restrict visitations to anyone found detrimental to the patient's care or functioning of the unit.
  • All visitors will be provided with handwashing instructions.
    • All visitors should be free from exposure to known communicable diseases prior to entry into the unit, e.g., chicken pox, and COVID.
    • All visitors should be free from fever/symptoms of acute illness, such as upper respiratory infection or gastroenteritis.
    • Parents are responsible for ensuring children are properly supervised by an adult throughout their hospital visit.
  • Children under age 12 will not be permitted in the OB department unless they are the newborn's sibling. Visitors over 12 are permitted to visit with an accompanying adult during normal visiting hours.
