Scott Mattes
Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Scott Mattes began his healthcare career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in New York before moving into leadership roles across New York, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Arts and an MBA in Healthcare Administration. Scott joined Carson Tahoe Health eight years ago as Director of Ancillary Services and now serves as Chief Operating Officer. He and his wife Kim have been married for 30 years and have two grown children who live in Colorado.
Scott is also known around Carson Tahoe for his close companion, Hiro, the beloved Golden Retriever therapy dog who brings smiles to patients and caregivers across the hospital.
What motivates you in your role?
Helping teams succeed. Operations is about removing barriers so caregivers can focus on what matters most — patients.
What is something people might not know about your career path?
I started my healthcare career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist before moving into leadership.
Who is Hiro?
Hiro is our family's Golden Retriever therapy dog and official morale booster at CTH. He loves coming to the hospital and bringing smiles to patients and team members.
Favorite way to spend time outside of work?
Traveling, spending time with family, and getting outdoors whenever possible.
