Guidelines to qualify for Shining Star recognition:
Shining Star awards criteria have been developed to ensure that recognition is provided in a consistent manner throughout the organization.
To qualify for a CEO pin:
• The letter or “thank you” must be unsolicited. No other recognition program can be altered to qualify. This includes “standing ovation” forms, Press Ganey Surveys, “Circle of Excellence" forms, individual program surveys, or any other in-house recognition program.
• Must be personal letters or notes written directly to the CEO.
• Recipient must be specifically named in the letter. Up to three recipients can be named per letter.
• If four or more names are listed in one letter, it will be considered a department achievement and recognized by department managers.
• Letters sent to specific departments will be recognized within their area or passed on to Administration at the department manager’s discretion. Recepients will receive recognition, honorable mention in the Shining Stars report and a CEO Stars pin.
To qualify for a Shining Stars pin:
• Someone must make a gift to the Foundation in your honor (combined total of $100 or more). Recepients will receive recognition, honorable mention in the Shining Stars report and a special Shining Stars pin.
Rising Stars:
• This category includes employees who have had donations in their name, but have not yet reached the $100 benchmark. They will still receive recognition, honorable mention in the Shining Stars report and a CEO stars pin.
Almost a Star:
• This category includes employees who have had brief compliments filled out in their name (usually on bookmarks found in the patient rooms). They will receive honorable mention in the Shining Stars report.
*Please note that there are Shining Star Bookmarks placed in patient rooms solely for patients and/or family members to take notes on regarding their experience. These allow them to expand on their thoughts later in a thank you letter or personal note. If a patient hands you a book mark, please offer gratitude and give them a shining stars envelope for their reference. Bookmarks do not constitute a thank you letter.
